Moscow University named after S.Yu. Witte is the first university in Russia with an ESG rating from NRA

17 July 2025

We are proud to announce that Moscow University named after S. Yu. Witte has become the first university in Russia to receive an ESG rating from the National Rating Agency (NRA).

The University was assigned the rating "A.esg", reflecting the high level of integration of sustainable development principles into its educational, scientific and management activities.

The following ratings were received for the ESG areas:

  • "A.e" - environmental component,

  • "A.s" - social policy,

  • "AA.g" - corporate governance.

This decision was the result of many years of systematic work on the development of ESG areas at the University, including:

  • launch and implementation of the Green Campus project,

  • inclusion of sustainable development topics in all levels of educational programs,

  • development of the Scientific and Educational Center for Sustainable Development (NOTSUR),

  • participation in national projects and creation of an environment for "green" innovations.

We would like to express special gratitude to our colleagues from the Sustainable Development Consortium — without your expert and moral support, this result would not have been possible. The Consortium has become a space for professional growth, exchange of experience, scientific partnership and like-mindedness, which inspire us to reach new heights.

This rating is not only recognition, but also a benchmark for the future. MUIV will continue to share practices, create new projects and strengthen its leadership in the field of ESG education.
