Since 2016, Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Koroleva participates in the work of the Scientific and technical subcommittee of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. A Resource Center for Sustainable Development has been established on the basis of the university. Last year, the university joined the All-Russian Consortium "Sustainable Development". The Russian Association for the Promotion of the United Nations held an event on sustainable development with the participation of representatives of the diplomatic corps, international and intergovernmental organizations, public authorities and business.
Vera Shcherbacheva, Head of the Department of External Relations of the Administration of the Governor of the Samara Region, represented the Samara Region.
In her speech, she noted that the Samara region has a high level of scientific, educational, industrial and technical potential. One of the leading world-class scientific and educational centers "Engineering of the Future" has been established in the region.
The educational infrastructure is also developing – under the leadership of the head of the region Dmitry Azarov, a project has been launched to create an international interuniversity IT campus in conjunction with aerospace, automotive, medical, construction and other specialties. The creation of such a powerful educational cluster will contribute not only to the development of scientific thought, but also to attracting and retaining gifted young people from other regions and countries in the region.
