Asia-Pacific Meeting: Education for Sustainable Development and the 2030 Goals
From September 12 to 15, 2024, the Asia-Pacific Meeting of Regional Centers of Expertise took place at Kyrgyz State University named after Arabayev in Bishkek. The theme of the meeting was "Expanding the Role of Education for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" (SDG 4: Quality Education).
The meeting focused on the achievements and challenges in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda, discussing how education can support sustainable development. Key discussions revolved around improving education systems, enhancing quality, and fostering collaboration among countries. Participants shared their practices and methods already being implemented in various countries to improve the quality of education.
Special attention was given to how educational institutions can contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, particularly in higher education. Representatives from Regional Centers of Expertise across the Asia-Pacific region shared their successful initiatives and ideas.
At the end of the event, participants were introduced to Kyrgyz culture by spending time in a yurt village, creating a friendly and warm atmosphere for the meeting. The event concluded with discussions on future plans and laying the foundation for new joint projects.
The results of the meeting highlighted that collaboration in education could be a key step toward achieving global sustainable development goals.
